Ice Cube Slams MTV Movie Awards Over Paul Walker's Win

Ice Cube lost Best On-Screen Duo to Paul Walker at MTV Movie Awards, and it didn't sit well with the rapper. He was nominated in the category with his "Ride Along" co-star Kevin Hart, and claimed that the fans-voted award was given to the late actor out of "sympathy."

It's not that Walker was not talented enough, but "they should have gave it to him before he passed away." the rapper told USA TODAY. He added, "We was robbed. Shame on you MTV. We had the best chemistry of everybody nominated, for us not to win was crazy. We were the best onscreen duo, period."

Cube attended the event on Sunday, April 13 with his wife Kimberly Woodruff, but left the ceremony early. "I just wasn't into it," he said. "I have been going in and out of these things for 25 years. If you ain't into it, why torture yourself? As soon as you get bored, get up and leave."

Before the show kicked off, he tweeted, "On my way to the MTV movie awards. If me and Kevin Hart don't win. The fix is in." After his criticisms caused a buzz, he returned to Twitter to write, "The MTV Awards. I wasn't really mad we didn't win. So I would never diss the actors who won. Not even Paul Walker. Seriously people!"

"Leaving early from the MTV Awards. They told me our catagory wasn't gonna be televised. So I left. Just promoting that RIDE ALONG DVD," he added. "The sympathy vote: We should honor people before they die. That's all." He also slammed the media, "Shame on you 'make something out of nothing' * reporters. Smh."

The MTV Movie Awards was hosted by Conan O'Brien. Walker won the Best On-Screen Duo title with his "Fast and Furious" sidekick Vin Diesel. While the category was not televised, the late actor was remembered in a special tribute segment by co-star Jordana Brewster.
