Katy Perry Throws Shade at MTV VMAs for Snubbing 'Roar'

The singer writes, 'I'm good with my 569,000,000+ views on Roar,' after she only nabs two nominations for her collaboration with Juicy J, 'Dark Horse'.

Katy Perry had a big success with her 2013 smashing hit single "Roar", so she was probably surprised that it wasn't nominated at all at the MTV Video Music Awards. One day after the nominations were announced on Thursday, July 17, the singer took to Twitter to subtly shade the awards show.

"I'm good with my 569,000,000+ views on Roar," she wrote. Perry, however, wasn't completely snubbed by the VMAs as her collaboration with Juicy J "Dark Horse" was nominated in Best Female Video and Best Collaboration categories.

The nominations of the 31st annual VMAs are led by Beyonce Knowles, who scores eight nods including Best Collaboration Video and top prize Video of the Year for Jay-Z-assisted "Drunk in Love". She's followed by Eminem and Iggy Azalea who receive seven noms each.

The winners will be revealed during a ceremony that's set to take place on August 24 at The Forum in Inglewood, California. Ariana Grande, 5 Seconds of Summer and Usher are already tapped to perform at the event.
