" I’m not married to the Fela Durotoye that you all know"--Top Beauty Entrepreneur Tara Durotoye
Top Beauty Entrepreneur Tara Durotoye, Hubby Celebrate 13th Wedding Anniversary In Dubai
CEO and Creative director of beauty brand ‘House of Tara’ International Tara Fela-Durotoye and her husband Fela Durotoye, an internationally sought- after motivational speaker, consultant extraordinaire, author and CEO of Visible Impact (Management consulting firm) took to Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai recently to celebrate their 13years of been together in marriage. Their 13 years of strong commitment in their marriage for this power couple was commemorated in style with exotic food and drinks. ‘Definitely, I think it’s exciting to be married to someone, I’m not married to the Fela Durotoye that you all know, I’m married to an amazing man who cares for his family, committed to God and committed to Nigeria and his vision. I feel very blessed to have a husband who is very committed to me and my own purpose and destiny in life. I feel very lucky and privileged to have someone who is also committed to ensuring that I’m happy, and so is looking out for the things that make me happy constantly. Consistently trying to improve himself so that he can remain relevant as a husband. I feel very blessed by that, and sometimes I have to pinch myself to say “Is this real, can I really be married to someone that can love me this much and care for me this much”. He’s made a difference to me because of the type of person he is first of all, he’s also made a great difference to me because of his consulting background. As a business owner, I’m consistently being counseled and advised by him on things to do and things not to do. As someone who is very passionate about Nigeria, I find that I’ve become addicted as well because I am married to him. Humanitarian, I guess I came with it before I got married to him. I’ve always been very passionate about empowerment and developing people. And it is this combination of passions that we have been able to bring together into what people are now calling the dynamite couple’. The makeup and beauty guru gushed about her husband in an interview with a fashion and beauty journalist sometime last year. However, the couple who are known to unwind and go vacations to places like Florida and Dubai according to Tara in an interview with a journalist, with their kids as a family, didn't take along their children this time around as seen from the pictures. Tara is the creator of the Tara Orekelewa Beauty range and so many more beauty products. |
Video: Phil Collins Comes Out of Retirement to Perform at Son's School Concert
The former Genesis member performs 'In the Air Tonight' and 'Land of Confusion' with a school band during a concert at his son's school in Miami.
"I was nervous, you know," Collins said before the performance. "I've been doing this all my life, but how good can it be? How good can it be tonight? All of these kids came up to me yesterday and were very pleasant and nice and polite and made me feel like part of the band."
Collins sang "In the Air Tonight" and "Land of Confusion" with the middle school band at Miami Country Day School. His former wife, Orianne Collins Mejjati, told the Miami Herald that the star had agreed to do the performance after being asked by their children.
Collins decided to retire from music to "be a full-time father to [his] two young sons on a daily basis." "I'm not stopping because of dodgy reviews or bad treatment in the press. I'm not stopping because I don't feel loved, I know I still have a very large fanbase that loves what I do," he said back in 2011.

Jennifer Lopez’s boyfriend Casper Smart came under fire on Tuesday after the TheDirty.com published alleged sexy messages exchanged between the choreographer and transgender porn star Sofia Vissa.
While speculation continues, RumorFix did speak to a friend extremely
close to Casper who tells us exclusively that it’s “all a bunch of BS.”
The defensive pal continues, “It’s just another story trying to get
him,” he says, adding, ” He’s just gotta let the storm pass.” Although
not giving details as to exactly how the story is untrue, the insider
continues tell us the 27-year-old is confident that all this “will get
resolved.”
TheDirty blogger Nik Richie posted the story after he was alerted that Vissa was bragging to her friends about a sexual encounter she had with Smart, which started via Instagram. Richie also claims the woman is trying to sell naked photos of J.Lo’s boy toy, but the asking price is too high.

It’s Finally Official: Apple Buys Beats For $3 Billion
I didn’t want to play cat and mouse with all the rumors that were circulating over the past month about the Beats acquisition by Apple for $3.2 billion. Now the rumor mills have halted and we have the official details, Apple has officially closed on the Beats acquisition for $3 billion. The $3 billion is broken down into $2.6 billion in cash and $400 million in equity for Beats Music.
The deal will bring a music-streaming service, high-end headphones and music-industry connections of both Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine to the technology giant.
Reports Global 14:
Apple said it would pay $2.6 billion in cash and $400 million in equity for Beats Music, a subscription music-streaming business, and Beats Electronics, which makes pricey headphones, speakers and audio software.
Beats co-founders—rap star Dr. Dre and music mogul Jimmy Iovine —will join Apple, and Apple will continue to use the Beats brand, a first for the company.
Mr. Iovine said he would leave his post as chairman of Vivendi Interscope Records and will work full-time at Apple. Dr. Dre, whose real name is Andre Young, said he would continue to produce music but do “as much as it takes” for Apple.
Mr. Iovine, a longtime friend of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, said the two men’s titles would simply be “Jimmy and Dre.” They will work with both Apple’s electronics and music-streaming divisions, spending as much time at Apple’s Cupertino, Calif., campus as necessary, while serving more broadly to bridge the cultural divide between technology and entertainment industries.
“The ugly truth is that there is such a Berlin Wall between Silicon Valley and L.A.,” Mr. Cook said in an interview. “The two don’t respect each other, don’t understand each other.
“We think these guys have a very rare talent,” Mr. Cook continued. “We love the subscription service that they built—we think it’s the first one that really got it right.”
Apple became one of the world’s largest technology companies by creating huge, new consumer electronics categories with the iPhone and iPad. But the company hasn’t introduced a breakthrough product since Mr. Jobs died in 2011.
At the same time, it has lost some of its hold on the music business. Apple’s iTunes store is the dominant seller of downloaded music. But listeners increasingly are turning to streaming services such as Spotify and Pandora Media Inc.
U.S. sales of single downloads slid 6% to 1.3 billion tracks last year, while album downloads were flat at 118 million. Pandora’s free, ad-supported service has more than 70 million active users. Spotify, which entered the U.S. in 2011, now counts 10 million paying subscribers world-wide.
Apple launched its own free music-streaming service, iTunes Radio, in September 2013. It counts 40 million U.S. users but has yet to make much of a competitive dent. Beats started its $9.99-per-month subscription music-streaming service in January.
The Beats deal also marks the start of Mr. Cook’s push to place his own stamp on Apple, which is still using much of the playbook established by Mr. Jobs. However, Beats pushes Apple in an unfamiliar direction. Not only will it take two celebrities into the company—it will acquire a new stand-alone brand, in a culture where the only brand until now has been Apple.
So is Dr. Dre a Billionaire?
Speculation would suggest not yet, from what I understand according to Forbes, Dre has a 25% of a 25% stake in Beats which would net him a couple hundred million but nothing will be clear until the details are revealed. Here’s a bit more of the break down.
You guys first have to first understand what Dre’s stake is, remember he sold most of his stake in the company to HTC back in 2011 for $500 million, then after the HTC deal turned out not to be fruitful, HTC sold part of the company back to Beats for $150 million.
That’s why Dre has the money he has now was because of that HTC deal. Dre’s original stake in the company was about 25%, that went away when after selling to HTC.
The $150 million buy back gives Dr. Dre roughly 25% of a 25% stake in Beats. So the math would be 25% of 25% of $3 billion. This would net Dre roughly $200 million.
Now of course they’re other parts of the deal that will also earn him more such as signing on with Apple and bringing his expertise to their company. No way to calculate what that’s worth, along with other agreements until the details are revealed.
So the answer is no, Dre will not be a billionaire…..just yet.
This isn’t just the biggest deal in Hip Hop history, it’s one of the biggest in music

I Can't Be Forced Into Marriage--Bimbo Akintola Speaks Out
Nollywood actress, Bimbo Akintola, has cleared the air about
her relationship with Afrobeat mystro Dede Mabiaku, stating that it did
not cause her career downturn.
The actress stated that whatever happened in the relationship was not Dede’s fault as he has always been a good person. She said that Dede was a good person but Nigerians just love to blame him for things because of his “bad boy image” being an Afrobeat musician. Bimbo admitted that she was in a relationship but maintained that she would not be coerced into marriage as it was an important aspect of human life that she could not afford to rush. She refused to disclose the identity of the man in her life or her marriage plans. |
Agony Of An Unmarried Woman--Regina Askia Writes
Regina Askia-Williams, who recently returned to Nigeria, but
left shortly after, wrote on her official Facebook page an article on a
woman’s identity. It is an article the actress put down to analyze the
ordeals women face in this generation. Read below;
I just read a social media fight between two people I know and I chuckle to myself because my friend was blowing some hot words there – she was really vexed. Reading through the literary missiles, a few questions came to mind. Why is it that, generally when Nigerians fight their profanity centers around a woman’s marital status, her age and to top off the insults, her private parts? Are these the yardsticks that we measure our women by? The marital status thing. Does it mean when a woman is not married she has no identity, she is less of a person or what? For a Nigerian woman to get any type of respect there has to be a man in the picture in what ever capacity? So it does not matter if you are wife number 6 at least you are wife? There is a vulgar saying that goes” Toto wey nobody get, na everybody get am”. For real? That pretty much means that a woman unattached is nothing but a mobile body part that anyone can do anything to or with…..chaaiii!! And so begins the race where mothers groom and condition their daughters to believe that their ultimate duty on Gods earth is to “find a man and born for am”. I have often listened to educated folks down so much on women with comments like “They should have no say, after all they are going to get married off”, Women think with their butts not their heads and my respect meter for them swings all the way dooownnn!! When we have more respect for our women we will begin to do better as a society. If you want to know the quality of men in any society look at how the women of that society are being treated. Of course its not all Nigerians but there’s too many with this notion and something must be said. The age factor. – Another sexist point of view. With notion of the one goal she must accomplish , the female now believes young and juicy is preference especially if you are at the other side of the biological clock and still have not found a man. So some of my soul sisters have designed a calibration where at 30. birthdays are celebrated every 3 years and at 40 every 4 years. Meaning if you are 30 you will turn 31 after 3 years ……so instead of kicking the other side of 40s with me my friends are mostly still 38. Where we could have fabulous and very accomplished women, celebrating milestones , sharing wisdom of lessons learned over the years, we have we see strong women dumbing down, hiding behind numbers, and an arsenal of paraphernalia that will ensure they don’t get old. Look at any photographs of big chicks at any event, we all look bothered. Why? Shoes are biting, wigs are squeezing, body magic trying to snuff out the last breath. Sometimes we are dropping body parts, nails dropping , eye lashes hanging……..Lord have mercy. Check out the Leboutins, Louie Vuittons, Micheal Kors, name them, all in competition with the other as we live out social constructs designed to forever keep us mentally emotionally and even physically impoverished(How? Story for another day). We need to love and accept ourselves. Finally, the woman’s private parts. The immediate way to gauge a persons mental quality is how he talks about a woman. It has nothing to with swag, bragado or just being a bad boy, a man who refers to a woman as a body part is quite simply an iIDIOT no if , ands, or buts, just keep it moving. I find it very disturbing that of the myriad of problems in Nigeria, there recently was a move to put in the constitution the legality of underage marriage as opposed to making laws against pedophiles. Its disturbing that what an individual decides to do with their private parts became a matter of national debate and outcry but HIV, malaria, food shortage and Ebola (currently knocking on our doors) are decimating the populace. These attitudes and perceptions of put out or shut up, money for hand back for ground are slowly turning our princess daughters into sex slaves, our turning our sisters and mothers into glorified prostitutes. If you have ever watched a pack of animals – you notice that they eat, fight, mate and sleep. The more highly evolved the animal in question the more organized their activities and interactions with group members. If this is our national psyche, then the women of Nigeria have a long road to walk because we must declare this consciousness unacceptable. This is not who we are and we can do better. We must point our daughters towards higher ideals and goals. We need a mind reorientation and perception which must begin with an honest look at the person in the mirror. Our men must once again learn to respect womanhood. Merit ought to take its place once again. Lets us as a people rise again. Where do we start?? |
Depp Negotiating for Houdini Film
De Niro is tapped to play opposite
Robert Pattinson in the secretive thriller while Depp is in talks to
portray the famed magician.
Robert De Niro is officially on board Olivier Assayas' "Idol's Eye". The veteran actor is to star opposite "Twilight" alum Robert Pattinson in the "sophisticated" indie heist action thriller which plot remains under wraps.
Filming is set to begin in October in Chicago and Toronto. Assayas, who is fresh from debuting "Clouds of Sils Maria" at Cannes, will be directing the pic for Benaroya Pictures. Ben Sachs is exec producing the project for the studio. International Film Trust handle the foreign markets while CAA will represent domestic rights along with WME.
This is Assayas' second film featuring a "Twilight" star. "Clouds of Sils Maria" which was entered for competition at Cannes, starred Kristen Stewart.
Meanwhile, THR is reporting that Johnny Depp is in negotiations to star as Harry Houdini in Lionsgate/Summit's "The Secret Life of Houdini". Based on the William Kalush and Larry Sloman's book "The Secret Life of Houdini: The Making of America's First Superhero", the film has Houdini portrayed as not just a famed magician and master escape artist but also an investigator of the world of occult.
Dean Parisot of "Red 2" is directing using the script from Noah Oppenheim ("The Maze Runner"). Lionsgate is eying a November 2014 start, which may or may not clash with the shooting of "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales".

Robert De Niro Opens Up About His Gay Father
De Niro also speaks of a documentary about his father in an interview with Out magazine, saying, 'It was my responsibility to make a documentary about him.'
Robert De Niro honors the memories of his father Robert De Niro Sr. with a new documentary called "Remembering the Artist: Robert De Niro Sr.". The documentary, which tells the story of De Niro's father, a struggling artist who was also a gay, premieres on HBO on June 9. In an interview published in the latest issue of Out magazine, De Niro talks about the project as well as his father's sexuality.
"I felt I had to. I felt obligated. It was my responsibility to make a documentary about him," De Niro says of the documentary. "I was always planning on doing it, but never did. Then Jane Rosenthal, my partner at Tribeca [Enterprises], said, 'We should start doing that now.' It was not intended to be on HBO. It was just something I wanted to do."
De Niro's parents got divorced when he was a kid, but they stayed close. "We were not the type of father and son who played baseball together, as you can surmise. But we had a connection," he explains. "I wasn't with him a lot, because my mother and he were separated and divorced. As I say in the documentary, I looked after him in certain ways."
"My father wasn't a bad father, or absent. He was absent in some ways. He was very loving. He adored me... as I do my kids," the Academy Award-winning actor shares.
When asked if his father felt affliction because of his sexuality, the actor says, "Yeah, he probably was, being from that generation, especially from a small town upstate. I was not aware, much, of it. I wish we had spoken about it much more. My mother didn't want to talk about things in general, and you're not interested when you're a certain age. Again, for my kids, I want them to stop and take a moment and realize that you sometimes have to do things now instead of later, because later may be 20 years from now - and that's too late."
Robert De Niro, Sr. passed away from cancer 20 years ago and now his home and studio in SoHo, New York City, is kept by his actor son. "It was the only way to keep his being, his existence alive. To me, he was always a great artist," he states.

NFVCB Delay Release Of Half A Yellow Sun Movie
The release of Chimamanda Adichie’s ‘Half Of A Yellow Sun’
movie which was premiered in Lagos last week has been delayed by The
Nigeria Film and Video Censorship Board, (NFVCB).
From information gathered the delay in certification is allegedly due to the fact that some scenes in the movie tend to whip up tribal sentiments, especially on issues concerning the Nigerian civil war. Right now the movie promoters are making efforts to edit and remove scenes in the movie that might be offensive and get the film approved. Here’s a statement the production team of the movie released: “The highly anticipated release of #HalfofaYellowSun in Nigeria has been postponed to 2nd May 2014, due to delays in obtaining certification from the Nigerian Film and Video Censors Board for the public release of the film.” |

10 Richest Nigerian comedians and their sources of wealth
They may look funny and unserious, but they are cavorting to
the bank and living their dreams. Ali Baba, the father of stand-up
comedians in Nigeria, aptly captured in words, the profitability of
comedy business when he said: “comedy is a funny business, a very big
business.”
After a careful study of the careers of these successful comedians, Showtime (Vanguard) came to the conclusion that a number of them are outstanding. Here are the top 10 in this branch of entertainment in terms of their assets, the money they charge per show, the various products or corporate endorsements they did, and their established brands from which they make steady income. Alibaba: With over thirty years of performing on stage and hosting events for almost all Nigeria’s former presidents and the present one, Ali Baba sits at the apex. Alibaba makes his money through a chain of businesses in Lagos: as a reputed motivational speaker, a professional comedian patronised by almost all the big brands and political bigwigs in the country. His net worth is estimated to be over 3 billion naira. It is estimated that he performs in a minimum of two events weekly at an average rate of 4 to 4.5million naira per event. That would add up to about 400 million naira per annum! Basketmouth: He has been associated with many companies, signing different endorsement contracts in the last six years. He also has an impressive list of branding deals with Amstel Malta, Globacom Ltd. and a host of others. With his sold-out shows in South African, London, and even in far away America, and on his Basketmouth Uncensored platform, the comedian has been so consistent since he came to limelight. His assets are estimated to be worth 2 billion naira. His annual income may be in excess of 192 million, while endorsement deals run into over 120 million annually. His international show, Basketmouth Uncensored, rakes in an estimated 100million naira. This artiste makes over 360 million annually. I Go Dye: United Nations Millennium Developmental Goal Ambassador, Amb. Francis Agoda, fondly called I Go Dye is the C.E.O of Revamp Construction Company, a property, real estate and road Construction Company. An estimate of his annual income stands between 350 and 500million naira, while his net worth is valued at over 2 billion naira. With properties in choice areas across Nigeria, and fleet of luxury cars, he is the man to beat. He also has a special performing relationship with almost all the governors in the country. His business empire is increasing every day. Presently, he is constructing a bottle water company, Franstel Natural Bottle Water. Julius Agwu: He made over 20 million naira alone from the launch of his book when he turned 40.
